And if you weren't at the show be sure to buy the DVD when you can for the Masada/Jimmy Jacobs match.
It was epic. I'm calling it my first choice for Match Of The Year.

Masada Jacobs was pretty good, though not as hardcore as I would have hoped. They definitely brawled all over the building and balcony, but it just never got really nasty. The contra code off the top was pretty sick and the last spot with the Masadamizer on all of the chairs was pretty brutal, but not nearly as brutal as having to watch the match directly preceding the main event.
Do you guys have any plans to do another deathmatch anytime soon? Am I the only one that wants this level of violence back in ACW?

I understand where you're coming from, but brutal and intense aren't always necessarily the same thing. This Masada/Jacobs match was intense, had lots of drama, and told a good story. I've seen "deathmatches" that consisted of guys laying there and getting up occasionally to do something gimmicky and "brutal". I would prefer this.
A death match now and then would be fine, but I'm not a fan of the idea of "deathmatches" as an all the time thing, such that it becomes all about a "deathmatch" as opposed to the deathmatch being important in some way.

"Deathmatches" are definitely best used sparingly, as they lose their effectiveness when over exposed. They tend to turn away many more fans than they bring in. we try to keep the over the top violence to a 2-3 matches a year maximum. The really ridiculously vulgar stipulation matches such as light tubes, weed whackers, cactus, fishhooks, needles & the like is seemingly without a large fan base (although, not a non-existent fan base). deathmatches in America reached a level of violence that became irresponsible IMO & burnt out the fans. as a former deathmatch wrestler I could see a huge decline in popularity of the genre with each passing year. with that said, expect myself vs. Scot Summers to get extremely nasty in an old school ACW kind of way.

There was plenty of good violence at this show, between the Smurfs bullrope match and Masada/Jacobs, along with everything else that went on.
Nothing needed to be changed; It was a good show all around. Lots of good wrestler development going on too.

Khris Wolfe is in desperate need of a signature move.
And I bought one of his t-shirts and was glad to do so, but I can't figure out why he has a picture of an eagle on it instead of a wolf. ;D
Oh well, it's wrestling.

Now THAT...was a show. A few notes:
The Smurfs have officially gained my full respect and support as a wrestling fan (yes, J C too).
Garza disappointed big time. Garza had every chance to beat Shawn Vexx, take the title, or at the very least make a major impact on Vexx. The key is - He needed to not focus on beating Shawn Vexx. For what Garza's doing "winning the title" can't be the goal. Vexx made him think it was, and he beat Garza mentally; and in dominating fashion, too. I'm Garza's fan, but Vexx deserved that win. It wasn't Erin's fault, Junior.
Gary Jay is the televised champion...Awful.
Lillie Mae gets better and better with each show.
ACH - I don't know what the hell that was all about, especially him and Caution running to the aid of Presley, after it was Presley who "DQ'ed" them a few months ago, but whatever it is ACH is thinking I'm done cheering for him. I'd love to cheer him on against Robert Evans, but Evans is still Takeover. ACH went to war with the Takeover tonight, as far as I'm concerned.
Speaking of the Takeover...That tag match proved why I'm a huge Takeover fan. They may have lost, but a cohesive and professional Dell & Spiro showed what TAG TEAM WRESTLING is all about tonight. You think the Submission Squad is a badass team? Dell and Spiro on the same page is relentlessly badass.
It's become very apparent that I was right about Athena. She brings way more to the Sub Squad than they give her, and it's a bad choice on her part to be with them. She's not appreciated there, and should drop the entire group. Athena would be an outstanding choice for the first female Takeover member, and a much better choice than Portia Perez.
The road to the Joshi title for Athena - Is with the Takeover.
Lady Poison is the most dominant woman wrestler I have ever seen.
Great show.
r k I can see ACH having a reason for what he did - Robert Evans setting him up against Awesome Andy last month. So, he's justified. I can respect that.
But I can't support it. Like I said, Evans is Takeover.

Wolfe's Slayer shirt is badass. What a great show. I wish Summers could have taken that chair throwing fan out back and "cornholed" him, as he delicately puts it. It was almost five hours long and i could have watched five more! Hearing Mike Dell sing a bit of Dio kinda helped make our night as well. Can't wait until SA in June.

I was told the chair throwing idiot was there to see the band that went on after the show.

I had such a great time at the show, the matches were great, the development of the feuds was incredible, for example the Submission Squad again looked absolutely dominant in every match they were in. The continuation of the Dell and Spiro friction, Palmer still unsure of himself and Jaykus showing him that he CAN do it on his own. Summers and Childs continued their back and forth battles and once again certain wrestlers stodd out greatly. The following names i would say stood out greatly at this show
Jimmy Jacobs Masada Evan and Pierre Chingo and JC Vega and Gary Jay Amanda Fox Mike Dell Spiro Sky Rider (When Darin teamed with him they worked so well together and they looked like a force whereas the other team was makeshift Darin and Sky Rider were also makeshift but it worked for them) Shawn Vexx has really came along since becoming Champion, his match with Garza was fantastic. Erin Star - She took some sick bumps in the Garza vs Vexx match, especially the powerbomb onto a barbed wire chair.
But Stars of the night were Darin Corbin and Robert Evans. The pre match dance off was quite possibly the funniest, most entertaining thing i have ever seen done anywhere near a Wrestling ring. I was laughing so hard during that whole exchange. And that was after their hilarious back and forth verbal exchange too. They topped it off with a great match.

The rules of Wrestling and music tend to differ a bit. he made a mistake...a HUGE, DUMB mistake. he was an idiot, not an A$$-hole. no malice was meant, still stupid, dangerous and unacceptable though. he was immediately removed.

Not sure if it was planned or not, but it might be a good idea to not have wrestlers ask the fans to throw their chairs in the ring if you don't want them to. Especially at a venue in the belly of the drunken beast that is Red River...

Ludevig - Seriously...Did you read the Takeover match as continuing friction between Spiro and Dell?
I saw it as a re-committment by both of them to the team. Dell being less egotistical but still in charge, and Spiro putting bygones behind him and giving the team 110%.
I was paying real close attention to Spiro and Dell after the match, and I thought Dell handled himself really well. He's becoming a true captain now.
I loved that match. Of course, I'm a huge Takeover fan, but I thought some real good stuff went on there.
I agree with Jimmy Jacobs being a standout, but I want to give special recognition to the Smurfs. They really pulled it out big time, and also because I've given them a little bit of grief on the forums here. They're there now, that's for sure. I still think they need to work on getting more and better back-up though. One thing Sunday night proved...
...is they need more support. As much heart as they have, they're outmanned and outgunned right now. That's not an insult, just the truth.

r k Vega is awesome, i am a HUGE Davey Vega fan, I did see him talking about Athena though but it was with merit. He was pointing out that the Squad brought her in to train him but she was down during the match and if you remember earlier in the night he pinned the current Joshi champ. The Dell Spiro conflict I see as almost resolved but there was still a hint of uncertainty by Spiro. Also during the battle Royal Spiro was inadvertantly eliminated by Dell. I was looking at the whole show and not just the tag match. There were seeds starting to really blossom and i can't wait to see what happens down the road between these two. I am a huge Mike Dell fan as well.

Well, please believe it is with the utmost wrestling fan respect that we disagree on liking Vega, but as for Athena I think that's a bad place for her to be - with the Squad; I'm talking about when Vega said: "I don't like her". And as for Vega...
I put a post on the June 13 thread and I've posted dream matches on the forum before, but I'm close to BEGGING the office...
Give Vega his "Jawshi" title match - with his HAIR on the line! ;D

As my computer has been acting up this is the first chance I have had to get on here.
The show was great as always...Garza did let me down a bit, Vexx was great as usual and I had an intersting talk with him later.
Almost everyone brought their A game or better this show. While the Smurfs lost they put up a great fight, like r k said, they just need some backup.
Corbin and Evans...man o man, that was some of the funniest and most entertaining stuff I have seen in a long while...Hope we see more Corbin in the future.
There was so much good at this show..and even with the tension still between Dell and Spiro during the battle Royal they worked together just fine later.
Masada and Jacobs was a great match too, even with the chair flying through the air...
Glad to see Centerfold come out on top in his match.

Glad to see Centerfold come out on top in his match. Darin Corbin is a great performer. The thing I noticed most about the guy was the poise and confidence he had doing what is some pretty tough schtick to get over.
I mean...fans are singing about him being a 'tard...and the guy jumps up in the middle of them and starts dancing to it!
And Evans and him together was like watching two guitar greats playing a duet. I know it's unfair that guys like this aren't in the wrestling "big leagues", but the selfish side of me is glad they're not, 'cause that means they're still with us.
Sorry to disagree with everyone, but I don't see the "tension" with Dell & Spiro that everyone's talking about. Maybe some of it's wishful thinking, but to me the battle royal just showed how competitive the two are, and I didn't feel any indication of bad feelings over Dell's mistake.
Those guys are pros. They're waaaay up on the top level. The way they worked in the tag match showed that.

Yeah, Garza did seem off his game a bit, not sure what direction he is going in now.
Did forget to mention Barry's speech about working for ACW cause he loves ACW, not the other way around. Loved it, can't even picture loving my job that much. Then again I don't work for ACW.

I've watched the battle royal on you tube, and now I can see why I didn't detect any asnimosity or friction between Spiro and Dell.
First, it was clear that Plisken caused Dell to bump Spiro out of the ring. Now of course, Spiro wouldn't have known that right away, but regardless it was Mike Dell who had a reason to be mad , since Spiro intentionally pulled the rope which brought Dell over. However...
Dell didn't hold a grudge (hence, he is a captain, who can put his ego aside). And then look how Dell and Spiro IMMEDIATELY get on Palmer like a couple of hungry wolves.
Yeah...That's how I want to see the Takeover. I stand by my perception. No animosity or friction, but a re-committment that looks to become very dangerous for anyone in ACW who gets in their way.
I can't wait to see where this goes. ;D
