This thought has been nagging at me a little lately because I don't normally watch wrestling on T.V., but I did tonight and I saw a pretty good locker room fight between Sarita and Velvet Sky. Then I saw Angelina Love putting in a mighty fine handicap performance against two opponents, in a match that wasn't "done" in two minutes.
Then later on I saw a really good tag team match between the divas - LayCool vs Beth Phoenix & Kelly Kelly.
And of course I'm aware of the recent cage match on T.V., between Mickie & Tara.
Does anyone else get the feeling that ACW buzz is fueling this? This recent "stepping up"?
Just seems to be happening at a really weird time to be all coincidence.

It's no coincidence; Alberto Del Rio calls himself The Essence of Excellence, wears a scarf instead of a sash, and does the exact double-handed cheese-grin pose that Robert Evans does.
ACW, as well as many other indy feds, keep the WWE and TNA alive.

I'm sure they don't think of it as stealing.

they absolutely know they are stealing & refer to it as such. It is what it is.

I get what you're saying and I do agree with it, but my point about the Joshis/Knockouts/Divas is that in this area particularly it seems like ACW is becoming a forerunner in American wrestling. That's not just fanspeak, I'm being serious about that.
Do you see us at some point getting recognized for that, or ACW growing off it? I don't mean recognized by the big companies as we all know better than that, but from wrestlers themselves, as well as fans beyond the home base.
If female wrestling grows in the near future ACW definitely deserves to be known by it.

first off, I was being facetious with the stealing comment. Second, my impression is that the wrestlers were among the first to recognize ACW for what it is. Even before the national fan base began to grow, wrestlers like Claudio & Arik Cannon where telling others about ACW.

r kThe Queen of Queens dvds are now available at Highspots.com, and they don't carry ACW dvds. So yeah, people are noticing the Joshis for sure.

I wish I was a billionaire, just so I could give ACW millions and let them take over the entire American wrestling scene. With the same money and opprtunity ROH had with their show, ACW could change televised wrestling.

I echo that sentiment, but actually it's probably better that ACW is coming up the way it is, rather than having big money behind it.
That's why as a fan I try to at least buy a DVD or a t-shirt at every show. I like how I'm seeing ACW come up from the People. That's how it's supposed to be,

So here's TNA right now with a Knockouts strap match!!! All of a sudden? No way it's a coincidence.
Doesn't matter - Poison vs Portia is gonna blow all of that outta the water in a whole bunch of different ways.

Notice something about those two posts?
Three minutes between the first one at the start of the "strap match" and the second one at the end of it.

r k Yeah thats whats wrong with tv, how can anyone give a shit about a 3 min match? Seeing such a waste of talent makes me sick to my stomach, just imagine how good those ladies would be in ACW.

r k Yeah thats whats wrong with tv, how can anyone give a shit about a 3 min match? Seeing such a waste of talent makes me sick to my stomach, just imagine how good those ladies would be in ACW. That's the really sad thing - especially with the ladies, because in wrestling they've worked so hard against so many odds to gain respectability.
And they promote a match like this in a way that you can tell the crowd watching doesn't even care about or respect it. You're right that there's a lot of talent there though, even amongst some of the WWE girls. Even with crap like this to work with they pour more of their heart in and give so much more to it than a lot of the male "stars" do. The match I mentioned in the first post between Laycool and Kelly & Beth Phoenix shows that. It was a really good match, albeit on a "B" show, and they showed what they could do, given the chance.
I hope they're getting well paid at least; they deserve it. It's not their fault they're being booked in this way.

I would not want to deny the influence of ACW or ROH or SHIMMER on the American 'entertainment' industry, but as a women's wrestling fan, anytime you think you see a pattern of improved quality in said industry, it's probably just a temporary coincidence/illusion.
