I'm gonna shoot straight with you on this. Right now TWE is in transition. Several of their familiar faces have moved on or will be moving on soon. Big Dogg, Skitzo, Hector and Angelina no longer affiliate themselves with TWE. Big Dogg and probably Skitzo will be at PWI tonight. Rudy Russo and Ben Galvan (who still own the tag belts) also have seemingly left the TWE umbrella. Windwalker has stepped away from wrestling following some difficult personal losses (deaths in the family) So none of those people will likely be there.
However, despite these situations, Rudy seems to be in high spirits lately. He recently signed a lease on the building and is looking forward to a new group of students starting very soon. Those who know will tell you that when Rudy is in a good mood, it's fun to be around. The recent shows have relied heavily on talent such as Dusty Wolfe and Ken Johnson as well as some new faces including Dick Dallas. Galan Ramirez has been on several recent shows and is impressive. With the Terry Taylor clinic last week several other performers were in attendence and may make their return this week.
Brett Thunder is headed east soon, so these will be among your last chances to see him. (Brett faces Jerry Lynn in Austin on Sept 6th.) It is also rumored that Ronnie the Red (who has improved tremendously recently) may also be heading East and there is concern that Cowboy Claxton my have another tour of duty coming up.
Since moving into the new building, the matches have all been good. Simple, but good oldschool story telling. The shows however do not have the continuity and consistency of SCW for example. The crowds have been small, but seem to be growing. The wrestlers give their best efforts no matter what the crowd size is.
The other option tonight, as previously mentioned is PWI, so if a local wrestler is planning on working in SA tonight he could show up at TWE. Nothing would surprise me (ok, some things might, but you know what I mean)
If you are old like me, and go to TWE, take ear plugs as I think Rudy is a little deaf and plays his music way too loud.
So that's it. Reasons to go... Support the local talent. Check out the new building, have a chance to see some new faces. The opportunity to have a really good time is there.
Reasons not to go. You've already made up your mind about TWE and Rudy and nothing anyone says is gonna change that opinion. You aren't interested in seeing a show that doesn't deliver the non-stop 3 plus hours of action/entertainment that you get at ACW
Personally, I still haven't made up my mind as to which show I am going to tonight. If you go to one and don't see me, send me the results so I can post them.

In all seriousness regarding TWE, I have attended countless TWE shows especially when they were the only promotion running in the area. I genreally enjoyed myself at the shows, but the truth be told, after the emergence of ACW and the level of shows they put on every time they ran/run, there is no comparison between ACW and any other promotion I have attended, in my opinion.
This is not a knock at TWE, because I think RBG is very good at what he does in training and deveopling good talent. Anyone that knows me would tell you Brett Thunder is a personal favorite of mine and he is a TWE mainstay. I think the difference boils down to the promoters thoughts on how a show should be ran. RBG has said publically "do the least amount you have to, to get by" and has commented and questioned why guys do certain things in front of small crowds at other shows. ACW on the other hand seems to give it their all every outing regardless of the town, crowd size, etc.. and as a fan, that is what intrest me and what I pay money to see. I don't want to go to a show and worry about the crowd size having a direct impact on how the show is ran. I have no credentials to say what is right or wrong, but from a paying customer point of view, I will be at the shows in which I think the promotion and people in charge are wanting to put on a great show and not just a show "that is good enough to get by".

In this day and age in which a fan has to carefully pick and choose where to spend hard earned money, I think most who frequent this board understand how much one gets for their $ at an ACW show. Other shows have plenty to offer, but ACW goes so much above and beyond.
Tonight, TWE ran 2 hour, 5 match show with 9 wrestlers for an $8 ticket. #1 - Awesome Andy vs. Rory Fox #2 - Quinten Allen vs. Dick Dallas #3 - Ronnie the Red vs. Cowboy Claxton #4 - Quinten Allen vs. Brett Thunder (TV Title Match) #5 - Awsome Andy & Shance Williams vs. Rory Fox & Rudy Gonzalez (Tag Title Match)
The matches were good, the Talent was good.
Now, the last ACW show ran over 3 hours, with 10 matches and 27 wrestlers. Every match contributed to the show and several were outstanding matches. Talent was a mix of local, state, national and international with at least 3 workers flying in for the show. I seriously mean it when I say that no other promotion in Texas is doing what ACW is doing. Plus, if you have extra cash to spend, ACW and the wrestlers always have a whole array of dvd's, t-shirts, photos available. The wrestlers willingly pose for photos and sign autographs.
Understand me here.... I am NOT SAYING don't go to the other shows. all I am saying is that we really have to be aware what an incredible thing we have going with ACW. If one show a month isn't enough for you (and for me, it isn't,) you cannot compare what you see at just any old show with what you get at ACW.
"Good enough to get by" isn't a consideration. Let's hope more and more of the promotions running shows figure this out.
