I think we can all agree that there are good promotions/shows and there are crap promotions/shows out there. I've been giving a lot of thought to what I look for in order to call a show great. I am looking for your feedback.
Try to be objective as opposed to subjective. For example "A great promotion uses the best wrestlers" is subjective upon who you think is a good wrestler (even the Houligans had their fans) but "A great promotion uses wrestlers who have been legitmately trained or are continuing to receive training" is objective.
Also, try to define things positively as opposed to negatively. For example "A great promotion doesn't use live play by play" is negative in that it says what NOT to do. "A great promotion respects the fans' knowledge, allowing them to react to the action" is positive.
Talent, Matches, Booking, Shows, Venues... everything that contributes to your enjoyment is open for discussion. I'll get things started with a couple of thoughts I have had after seeing some recent shows.
A great promotion will use a mix of talent including wrestlers who cannot be seen on other local shows.
A great promotion recognizes that a referee is as important to the success of a match and a show as anyone else who steps into the ring.
A great show will have more action than talk during the course of the evening. Promos are well prepared and contribute to the advancement of the action.
I think y'all understand the types of things I am looking for.

I'll give it a try but i think the subjective things are what really seperates things for fans, or atleast it should be in a perfect world.
A Great show is one which gets a true life thoughtful response from the audience members
A Great show has matches witch all add to the show and contribute to the future of the show, in some way no matter how small.
Thats all i got

Here's one for you...
With great shows, the fans can be confident that not only will the announced show actually take place, the promotion will be around after the show is over and will continue to produce shows.

Here are a few,
Great shows/promotions appreciate the dedication of the fans that spend their money and support them.
Great shows/promotions follow through on announced talent.
Great shows/promotions don't hold anything back based on the size of the crowd.
Great shows/promotions focus their attention and energy on their product as opposed to the "other guys promotion.
