Anyone have one? For me it's Masada vs. Spiro at the September show. That was super good wrestling.
Runner-up is Mschif/Roxx at the Queen Of Queens.
I'll give a second runner-up - Summers/Palmer at the Lone Star.

Now granted I only started going to shows at Keep Austin Weird II on April 26, 2009.
Liked Masada VS. Mr. Showtime at Realization
Distrust, Dismay, and Anit-Social Behavior The Trios match with Smurf Nation vs Submission Squad
Gary Jay vs Vexx
and of course the First Joshi belt match was good.
Most of the lone star classic was good liked the 4 way between Gary Jay v Masada v Vexx v JT
Then at Delusions on Dec 20
Battle of the Smurfs
and Evans taking on Summerlyn

Yes we Smurfs had great matches in 2009 but I'm gonna say that Rachel Summerlyn vs Robert Evans closed the year out in style for me. That match had everybody on their feet from start to finish. :-)

For the first time in a long time the last show was the first time i got to sit and watch a whole show start to fin. I must say that Rachel Summerlyn vs Robert Evans has been one of my fav match's and a great way to end the year. Masada vs Showtime nrbw was fucking insane. Dell vs London was just a work of art.

I agree on how great Dell vs London was, but when I considered my "favorite matches of the year" it wasn't one that jumped into my mind as immediately as the three I listed. So, those three get the nod.
Dell/London as a match might be something above this category though. Remember, this is "favorite match" of 2009. That one is definitely a contender for Best Match Of 2009, and even though I'm relatively new to the promotion, among the Best ever for ACW.
It's hard to imagine many matches giving you more than that one did, although I considered Summers/Palmer (Lone Star) to be one of the most emotional matches I've ever seen.

It was insane, and a good example of the best part of being in a wrestling audience.
As a match though, it doesn't stand with me alongside some of the Queen Of Queen matches, or the SHIMMER tag title match in October.
And Mschif/Roxx was so damned hard hitting...definitely the best womens' match of the year, and one of the best I've ever seen.
That match is like the female version of something like Spiro/Masada to me. Unbelieveable.

I didn't catch the female matches you listed there rk Of course London vs Dell was great. Get the ACW Queen Of Queens DVD; I highly recommend it.
As good as it is though, it's not like it was being there. The match I picked - Mschif/Nikki Roxx, was very powerful and athletic.
The one Barry chose - Sara Del Rey vs Daizee Haze, was pretty intense too.

I actually spent a few minutes reviewing the results of the past year, thinking maybe I could find 10 match of the year candidates. Trouble is, I can't get it down to that number from the 18 matches i selected.
1/18/9 - Guilty by Association 3 - JT Lamotta wins HW Title from Jimmy Jacobs 3/22/9 - Peace Love & Anarchy - Daffney vs. Rachel - Falls count anywhere come as you are 3/22/9 - Peace Love & Anarchy - Triple Threat Title Match - Delirious vs. Masada vs. LaMotta 5/17/9 - Nothing is as Real as a Dream - Tag Title Match - Team Smurf vs. Lynn & Showtime 5/17/9 - Nothing is as Real as a Dream - NRBW Tag Match - Garza Brothers vs. Children of Pain 6/7/9 - Realization of Mortality - NRBW Match - Masada vs. Summers 6/21/9 - American Joshi Queen of Queens - non tourny match - Nikki Roxx vs. MsChif 6/21/9 - American Joshi Queen of Queens - Tourny Finals - Del Rey vs. Haze 6/21/9 - American Joshi Queen of Queens - HW Title Match - Dell wins Title from LaMotta 8/23/9 - Distrust Dismay & Anti-Social Behavior - Scramble Elimination for Joshi Title - Daffney, Diamond Icee, Jessica James, Angel Blue, Rachel Summerlyn & Portia Perez 9/20/9 - Evolution of the Revolution - Masada vs. Spiro 9/20/9 - Evolution of the Revolution - American Joshi #1 Contenders match - Del Rey vs. Rachel 11/15/9 - Lone Star Classic - Prelim Match - Abernathy, Evans, Cabana 11/15/9 - Lone Star Classic - Semi-Final Match - Palmer vs. Summers 11/15/9 - Lone Star Classic - HW Title Match - London vs. Dell 11/15/9 - Lone Star Classic - Finals Match - Plisken vs. Summers 12/20/9 - Delusions of Our Childish Days - U-30 Qualifier Match - Team Smurf 12/20/9 - Delusions of Our Childish Days - Evans vs. Summerlyn
I will leave it to someone else to pare the list down to 10. BUT... its more likely that you will find 10 more deserving matches I left off the list.

way too much Austin show bias IMO. I'd say, Peace, Love & Anarchy was the best event of the year, followed closely by Guilty By Association 3, The American Joshi Queen of Queens Tournament, The Lone Star Classic and Delusions of our Childish days. The full year end voting will start next week. Mike Dell vs. Scot Summers (1-18-09) - This is THE feud in ACW. from day one. Dell was a bloody mess, Showtime was a submission machine and time just couldn't contain this one. Jimmy Jacobs vs. JT Lamotta (1-18-09) - a full year of hate, anger, rage and passion comes to a head and JT Lamotta finally conquered his demon and put The Age of the Fall to rest in ACW. Jimmy threw so much at JT and this was such an emotional ride. Daffney vs. Rachel Summerlyn (3-22-09) - Falls count anywhere (3-22-09) - A bitter teacher vs. Student rivalry that resulted in a bloody Daffney getting her first taste of the hardcore life that she then brought to TNA. The evil Daffney you see in TNA was born in ACW on this night. JT Lamotta vs. Delirious vs. Masada (3-22-09) - everyone in The Venue was expecting a wrestling classic and we got one of the sickest, most brutal fights of the year. watching Delirious get hardcore with a deathmatch messiah such as Masada and JT Lamotta bringing his graceful, yet high impact style was a true pleasure to watch. my personal MOTYThe Smurf Nation vs. Lynn & Summers (5-17-09) - This was the proudest I've ever been in the wrestling business. Watching 4 young, overlooked talents with something to prove battle the two biggest names in ACW history. It was the future against the present. JC Bravo & Chingo Smurf are my kids, Berry Breeze was a joke that never stopped working hard and became a legit player in ACW over time and Alektra Blue, who (at the time) was probably the closest person (not named Rachel Summerlyn) to me on a personal level in ACW. it was a GREAT time watching these kids become adults in the span of 20 minutes. 3 of them never looked back. Darin Childs vs. Scot Summers (6-21-09) - ego aside. over the last near decade be, it in ACW or AAA in Mexico, Summers vs. Childs has been can't miss. This was brutal, bloody & intense, on a show full of athleticism and beauty. I am very proud of this match, especially the part in which I had Showtime choked out until Masada had to save him . Sara Del Rey vs. Daizee Haze (6-21-09) - the pioneer of modern independent woman's wrestling vs. The Best in The World. The often over looked Daizee Haze did what she does best, fight until the end against an unrelenting force. Daizee survived and then dedicated her tournament victory to her father on father's day. The Joshi Scramble to crown the 1st champion (8-23-09) - This match doesn't seem to get the respect it deserves. It was excellent. I admit I'm probably bias because I tend to look out for the Joshi division in a more nurturing way than the other divisions. This was the most stressful match of the year for me personally and as a pivotal part of the ACW office. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Scot Summers (9-20-09) - THE best wrestling match of the year. in 2010, they will likely have a return match that will be THE best wrestling match of the year. Paul London vs. Mike Dell (11-15-09) - not only was this the moment in which my career in the wrestling business came full circle, but this was two guys with a lot to prove. Mike Dell has been completely over looked in 2009 despite being the best "drawing" champion in ACW history. Mike Dell not winning wrestler of the year on any/ever poll is a shame. he was the glue that held ACW together when we were struck by a seemingly endless list of injuries to the roster. every match he had was great, but this was the pinnacle. Paul London returning to his home town after being abused by the evil machine that is known as the "E", wrestling a man he has great history with in a first time match-up, the referee that ref'ed London's very first match doing the officiating. Some maybe have been lost in the sheer nostalgia, but believe me, this match was the most special match I watched all year. Scot Summers vs. Matthew Palmer (11-15-09) - Matthew Palmer stood up to the plate on a huge stage and hit a home run. Showtime is a monster. The Superplex onto the pile of chairs was an amazing moment. I don't think I've truly expressed how great Scot Summers is. He is the heart of ACW and he proved that here. Rachel Summerlyn vs. Robert Evans (12-20-09) - wow. Just wow. The biggest homegrown star in ACW and the most obnoxious (charismatic) man in ACW. These two started in a deficit with Portia Perez' flight cancellation and both went out there with the intention on stealing the show. The show was stolen.

Great list, sorry mine is so ATX heavy, I can't make it to the San Antonio shows as much as I would love too. I have to get a new car that will make it there and back. lol.
I hope to get some people together to make it to the 2/21 show. I have really grown to looking forward to these shows in ATX.

It's not my intent to in any way diss the six wrestler match for the Joshi title. As a fan of womens' wrestling I can appreciate the work that went into it, and they did put on a good, high-energy match.
But multi-wrestler matches like that are hard to rate highly with me, as a matter of preference. I find greater intensity with smaller matches.
The historic importance of the match was well presented with the scramble, and that was the wildest wrestling crowd I've seen in many years. The match more than did its job.

The matches are great, the wrestlers all seem to really love what they are doing. The wrestlers also treat the fans with respect and take time to talk to you most of the time. ACH, Vexx, The Smurf Nation, Submission Squad all great. Dell does a fantastic job as both the champ and leader of the takeover..well while it lasts. Course Robert Evans is always entertaining. The Joshi matches are great, the women look good and can wrestle, which is something the big promotions tend to overlook. The whole roster is great and I look forward to these shows every month.

i can agree with y'all on that matter as well as far as the scramble matches go cuz sometimes you get confused on who to cheer for. Don't quite have the word to describe it but on the other hand are very exciting and like you said, very energetic. It's still a fresh memory to me watching all of the fans faces when the Joshi scramble match ended. Seemed like a riot was about to break. That was priceless! Wish i had a pic of that moment!

That's how a match like that accomplishes what it's supposed to do. It gets the job done, but in my opinion not necessarily in a "Match Of The Year" way. However, it does provide one of those wrestling memories you'll never forget!
The feeling in the audience for that match reminded me of the sound you hear when you're on a rollercoaster. THAT MATCH - Made me say that womerns' wrestling can be - not just as big as mens' wrestling, but BIGGER! Because I have to dig real deep to come up with a memory of a crowd responding to a mens' match the way they did to that one.

Its a tough call. One on One contests are great and really show who the better man or woman was...at least that night.
But the 4 and 6 man/woman matches(multi people at any rate) are fun to watch and lets you see more of the great wrestlers at the same time.
And agreed 2009 was a great year and I am looking forward to 2010.

As for multi-mans - I've really never been a huge fan of them for the most part...ACW does do a very good job with them though. Better than most I've seen.

Perhaps one reason that ACW does so well at the multi-man match is that almost all of them are elimination rules. With the exception of the #1 contender's match at the Lone Star Classic, virtually every one is contested with elimination rules. As a fan, I enjoy seeing matches with absolute finishes, not one where a wrestler in the match can be totally left out of the decision.

While a three way non elimination can be good, even more so when its for the belt. I do like a match like that now and then where one wrestler has to save his oppenents now and then.
