Well since tna released her let me start the Awesome Kong push, I would love to see Rey v Kong. SHE announced her release, TNA seems to differ on the opinion at this current time. I would assume its impending, but it seems TNA isn't really too into allowing her to take non TNA booking at the moment...or allowing her on TV...looks like until she is released TNA holds all the cards.

I'd rather see the Joshis that are truly ACW in the tournament. Del Ray, Portia, Haze, Daffney, Summerlyn, Lady Poison are examples. Kong should have to make a name for herself in ACW before she should be in an ACW tournament. Although Id love to see her crush Portia.

Will there be a show in May? Or no shows in months that start with M?

Will there be a show in May? Or no shows in months that start with M? we are running in May (tentatively the 16th). the scheduling for May & June @ Mohawk is being held up by SXSW.

I like the idea of the Joshi tournament being an invitational; meaning new and outside talent may be invited to compete.

Here's something though...
Personally, I would prefer to not see the Joshi champion in the tournament.
I would like to see the tournament winner get an immediate Joshi shot the same night.

r k Yeah.. It could easily launch a feud, with the winner of the tournament losing their title shot and demanding another shot on another night or blaming the loss on fatigue. Its still cool to see the title on the line every round of the tournament.

Is the new ring gonna be at Mohawk or is it just used in S.A.? Some competitors seemed to be working better in that ring.

Its still cool to see the title on the line every round of the tournament. I don't like the idea of "the champion" getting a shot at the tournament too. It was o.k. when it was the U-30 champion because that's kind of a secondary belt which is used to motivate the younger wreslters in the first place. But when it's a world-level championship...
It just seems overkill to me to have a champion at that level participate in a tournament. Plus, I don't think a world championship should be defended "every match" either, as a world title match is a special event and each wrestler should be at his/her best. Thus, the fatigue factor is an issue with having the tournamnet winner get a shot the same night. It might be better for the Joshi champion to have a showcase match, like Dell/London at the Lone Star.
...and here's my plea to the office for that to be Mercedes Martinez.

r kThe majority of ACW tournaments do have champions defending titles. in 2008 Jimmy Jacobs successfully defended the ACW Heavyweight Championship throughout the Lone Star Classic by defeating Jerry Lynn & Scot Summers in RD 1, Dingo in RD 2 & Shawn Vexx in the finals. as for the 2nd Annual Joshi Tournament, it all depends on who will be holding the belt on June 27th & if the champion is entered in the tournament. also, we do feel that the Joshi Tournament should be used to display why ACW is putting out the best women's wrestling in the country so we tend to stick with the competitors that have paved the way in the ACW Joshi division. I have received dozens of requests for participation from females all over the world, but unfortunately there are only 8 tournament spots. Last year we brought in two fresh faces for the event in Rain & Nikki Roxx. The national names we employee in ACW work harder & put on better performances here than ANYWHERE in the country and for that they should be rewarded & allowed to ply their craft at our featured women's focused event. is is the girls' hard work, passion and desire that make this show happen, not the office. in fact it was a few members of our Joshi Division that pitched this concept in early 2008 due to their frustrations with the national women's wrestling scene. Last Years event was really special to me & this year will be more of the same.

As well as influxing additional talent.

The Tournament last year was what got me into ACW in the first place. ACW does put a lot of effort into getting Woemn's Wrestling recognised and brings in "name" wrestlers from the Indy scene to work with anyone they have on the show, not just to headline.

I agree, and it's because ACW respects womens' wrestling in a way I've never seen it respected before by any wrrestling promotion I've witnessed in over thirty years and in different parts of the country. One of the most memorable wrestling experiences I've ever had was just being in the audience during the 6-woman scramble for the Joshi belt. Not even the match itself, but just being a part of that crowd. Womens' wrestling at its peak has a passon and intensity much different than mens' wrestling ever does, and ACW gets that - the office, the wrestlers, and the fans.
Lots of comparisons are made betweeen ACW and the original ECW, but even the original ECW never came close to ACW when it comes to womens' wrestling; not by a long shot.

Thats one of the main reasons i enjow ACW, it is the respect factor. I've been to Indy shows before where their merch table sold nothing but WWF Merchandise even though NO ONE on the show had worked for WWF (this was before the change to WWE) I have been to shows where WWF performers were advertised then when i got to the show it was other wrestlers dressed as them in TRIBUTE (Kane, Undertaker, Doink, Mankind)
To me those 2 instances are tremendous levels of disrespect to the fans and to the wrestlers.
Best merch table i have seen is the ACW one, best fan interaction i have seen is at ACW shows, best mingling of the wrestlers with the fans during intermission and after the event is at ACW shows and best overall wrestling i have seen is at ACW shows.
ACW gives the fans and the wrestlers something to give a shit about and that is respect, honour and pride. If you can't be proud of the company you follow then how are you going to turn round and get your friends into them?
I'd like to thank WWE, TNA, WCW and the smaller indies that have all ballsed up by not listening to the fans or looking to history and seeing what worked. ACW may not have a tv deal or a PPV deal but they have a great roster, a great show and are getting there with word of mouth. When ACW's Joshi Division can be spoken of in the same breath as SHIMMER then that says a lot.
I say that about the Joshi division because you could have several SHIMMER wrestlers on your roster and still have a shitty show (Wrestlelicious anyone???)

Never saw ACW's Doink, the shows i saw the "tribute " guys on were in the UK and they were ADVERTISED as WWF SUPERSTARS which was a lie. I love that ACW brings in name wrestlers on a regular basis rather than just for one show. Building a reputation in the wrestling scene based on quality is the way to go. You guys don't put on shows, you put on WRESTLING events that shouldn't be missed.

As for women, Heyman's ECW did a very good job with valets, but not with women wrestling. They certainly could have, but they just didn't. It's not that they disrespected the women, as the way they used valets was still miles above what WWE does with the women, even today.
ACW is tops when it comes to womens' wrestling, from everything I've seen. ACW takes it seriously the way the Japanese were back in the 90's.
